Chorus: *Cream Soda* Sanctu Spiritu from the Mass in B Minor. This is one of the most intense rhythmic movments in all music. Jazz or rock players would be very proud to be able to create rhythm like this. What a climax!! Well worth seeking out...

OKAY! The Latin word which begins the three word title of this chorus is prohibited and "Cream Soda" is put in its place. Let me give a clue by saying that the word sounds like "Come". It's Latin, so there's no double entendre or pun intended!

I would choose ether Brandeburg #3 or Toccata and Fugue on d minor.

I can't get enough of the 2nd movement of BWV 1043 for two violins. It's so beautiful. Shocked How can somebody write such a piece of music. Increasingly I begin to believe in god.

There's a saying something like: "I believe in God as long as the music is playing" - is from a famous composer.

Sicut Locutus Est from Magnificat Very Happy

I just heard it performed at the Minnesota Music Educators Association All-State Honors Choir Camp. I came back from it about two weeks ago and it was Uber fun! Cool

What about all the vocal pieces ?

The first choirs of st john ("Herscher, unser Herrscher") and st matthew passion ("Kommt ihr Töchter") are (on my opinion !!!) the most representative pieces of bach's creativity and originality. They are the two most impressive and extraordinary pieces of teh whole baroque music, perhaps of every music.

Some other choirs are also extraordinary : the choruses "Jauchzet, frohlocket" and "Herrscher des Himmels" from the christmas oratorio will make you dream like never before !!!

Well, this wouldn't be my actual favourite Bach piece, but since the post asks for a favourite song, I would definitely agree with Josquin. St John's Passion is my personal favourite - the first part sounds so mysterious, with all the organ tunes. Many musicologists claim St John's Passion to be the greatest piece of music ever to be written, (with Handel's Hallelujah) and I can't disagree with them! I mean, how hard must it be to write vocal music for four parts, including strings and an organ and everything?
Beats me.

i'd have to say that my favourite bachs piece is pretty much of all of his work, so any kind of abstraction from this monumental opus would be not only be discriminative but would neglect the genius of bach himself, which is, and i think you'll agree, undoubtful.

I like Minuet (The Anne Magdalena Notebook), Air (Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major), Little (Fugue in G minor).

But I love almost all of Bach's famous organ works such as Toccata and Fugue in D minor, BWV 565; Fantasia and Fugue in G minor, BWV 542; Prelude and Fugue in E minor, BWV 548; Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor, BWV 582 and lots more.

Hehe... since I like Bach's organ playing, I like every kind of music that use pipe organ or harpsichord; gothic band or classical rock band. Very Happy

If you don't mind, try to listen to Malice Mizer, gothic/classical french-baroque band from japan. Nice organ playing there! Smile
