I'd like to take this opportunity to say hi to fellow PDQ fans, and to mention a web page which I've recently added to my site:
http://www.mcgath.com/pdq.html
"The key of P. D. Q." lists as many sources as I could identify for musical quotations in P. D. Q. Bach's pieces, along with a few general notes.
Jenny: "My Bonny Lass She Smelleth" is doable, but you'll need a good singer for the scat solo. A choral group at Digital Equipment Corporation (a long time ago, in an economy far away), the "Spit Brook Singers," occasionally included P. D. Q. Bach in their performances. _________________ http://www.mcgath.com |

There are multiple times when the Secondo is playing between the hands of the Primo. By the middle of the piece your hands are virtually tied in a knot. There are also two places in the movement where the Secondo stands and moves to the opposite end of the piano and the Primo slides under the Secondo's arms all while still playing. There are times when I am parcticing it and I just start laughing. |
I'm new to this forum and to PDQ Bach's works, but I'm wondering if he has written more than this one piece for piano four hands? Does anyone know where the sheet music can be purchased?
My sister and I play duets often and the Sonata Innamorata sounds like it would be a fun addition to our collection.
Thank you!

That's actually very interesting. So when did he live, that PDQ Bach? What was his real name? |
He lived in the Late Baroque/ Early Classical period and his real name was PDQ (JS didn't have much time to waste on giving him a real name) _________________ "Out of my way, you butterfingered bassoonist!" --JS Bach |

| Besides the Sonata Innamorata, P.D.Q. Bach has wrtitten the Liebeslieder Polkas which I believe are scored for chorus and piano duet. There is also the Concerto for Two Pianos vs. Orchestra. His Toot Suite, which I have also played, is for two people at a calliope, but it works just as well on an organ. With some tweeking it could be played on a piano. There are two places that I know have a good selection of P.D.Q. Bach music. The first is the Theodore Presser Company website. They are the actual people who publish his music. The second place is the Sheet Music Plus website. You can order all of P.D.Q.'s music from them. I hope this helps. |

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question! We'll have to see if we can find the sheet music -- looking forward to trying it.
God bless,
