I'm curious myself as to who or what PDQ is? Is it a composer? A music term?

OK, PDQ BACH is Professor Peter Shickele. His whole "shtick" is that Bach had a son they tried to hide that wrote horrible music. Story is that Prof. Shickele "found" the music after hundreds of year of being lost.
It is in the style of Bach, but additional instruments include bathroom plungers, kazoos, etc.
An example of his sense of humor is a Mass piece called "Gloria". The soloists sings "Gloria" for about thirty seconds, and then says "I just met a girl name Gloria".
It's definately very high brow humor and along the lines of "Victor Borge" type of humor.

Well, it's supposed to be Bach's forgotten son, so Germany. But I think Prof. Shichele was from Minnesota.

Definitely one of the funniest musical jokes; knocks Mozart's into a *One Eyed Bishop* hat. Still available?

I love PDQ Bach. It is the most hilarious music I have ever heard. At the moment I am preparing to perform PDQ's Sonata Innamorata for piano, four hands. The socond movement is my favorite. There are multiple times when the Secondo is playing between the hands of the Primo. By the middle of the piece your hands are virtually tied in a knot. There are also two places in the movement where the Secondo stands and moves to the opposite end of the piano and the Primo slides under the Secondo's arms all while still playing. There are times when I am parcticing it and I just start laughing. Does anyone know if he has written anything specifically for strings?

I have just recently heard that P.D.Q. Bach will be performing this December close by where I live. I am so excited. I am not going to miss this concert. It is a once in a lifetime opprotunity. If you know who he is you know what Im talking about. If you dont know him, you really should look him up.

I LOVE PDQ Bach! I'm gonna try to get my choir director to let us perform "My Bonnie Lass, She Smelleth." Hillarious piece! _________________ "Out of my way, you butterfingered bassoonist!" --JS Bach |

I went to the concert that I previously talked about. It was wonderful. The pieces that were performed were the Safe Sextet, 12 Heavenly Songs and Variations on an Unusually Simple Minded Theme. I will never forget that concert. Everyone should see P.D.Q. in cincert.
