| I think Bach is the closest thing to the voice of God. I find it hard to believe others love his music as much as I do. It literally bring tears to my eyes and I'm a big guy. Even songs, especially the choral selections, I've heard for years and years causes me to pause in reverence. I have tons of music in my Ipod that come and go. Bach's music still stops me cold. It is more intense than my Zeppelin and more haunting than my Radiohead. That's because it is timeless. As an organist with ADHD, his music is the perfect fit. I can really appreciate the counterpoints. My favorite album is the Kantaten. It is anointed by God far beyond any worship songs I've heard. |

i feel the same as you when i listen to the WTK (my favourite), Inventions and Sinfonias, the Musical Offering, the Suites, the Concerts and the Art of Fugue. I don't understand how it is possible to have such beautiful music and how so few people seem to appreciate it. unfortunately i don't know much about the kantatas and other choral works, except maybe the most famous, like the St Mattews Passion and the Weinachtsoratorium. i finally found this forum and am am very glad of it . |
