|

I have heard from a Cellist friend that does not sing (I do) that someone has put some lyrics to this incredible piece! Bach's Suite I in G Major for Cello. Does anyone have information on this - is this true? A few web searches have dug up a few things that cost some $$ - without even a preview to see if the lyrics are horrible or not.
Anyone heard about this? _________________ The grrl who lives in a Castle in California. |

| Well... lyrics...? To a sonata? That would be slightly un-Bach but seems interesting. I assume that the key would change to a Bb Major and the lyric is in form of a lament. |

Yes, I agree - very un-Bach indeed but it interested me. And this aquaintance said it was only for the Prelude.
It would most assuredly have to be sad and the key change necessary I suppose.
BTW - Another friend and I have done a couple of performances with only Cello and voice. Nice songs that we put baroque spins on...
Fun and great reaction from the audiences - just thought I would share.
Thanks for the input...

| This will be un-Bach fan like, but I would recommend the Battaglia/Lamenti for voice and viola da gamba (the 'authentic' baroque ground) if you like voice and bass clefs. |

I will check with one of my music faculty friends.
I teach English and sing but do have access to a huge archive of music and will try to find it.
Thanks again for the suggestion,
