|
|
I have a book of J.S. Bach Keyboard Music containing the French Suites. In No. 4 Allemande BWV 815 there are significant differences between the book version and every recording I've heard. At first I thought it was individual ornamentation but everybody plays it the same way. Are there different versions of this piece? And why can't I find a performance of my book's version?
The book is called "Johann Sebastian Bach Keyboard Music The Bach-Gesellschaft Edition".
The copyright page says: "This Dover edition, first published in 1970, is an unabridged republication of Johann Sebastian Bach's Clavierwerke, Volume 13.2 (pp. 3-86, 89-127) and Volume 3 (pp. 46-136, 263-308, 1-42) originally published by the Bach-Gesellschaft, Leipzig, in 1863 and 1853, respectively." |

| I "heard" that is because No.4 does not have a prelude, but they changed the Allemande to a prelude? |

| it is not possible. they can't have changed an allemande into a prelude. The preludes are present only in the English Suites not in the French ones. |
