| I have just heard the greatness that is the "Art of Fugue". I am fairly new to Bach but his compositions seem to represent the pinacle of musical architecture. The architecture of the Baroque period may be analogous to music of this period. I have been introduced this work via a double cd set with the Bach collegium playing and arranged/conducted by Bernstein(not Leonard). It features different instruments but my favorite was the organ, which sounded different than a regular organ, higher pitched. Anyway I am of the opinion that a fugue is one of the most amazing musical constructions. Anyone heard SHostakovich's Fugues? |

I haven't heard Shostakovich's fugues, but am very familiar with the Art of Fugue. Bach's last piece in the work is on his own name - B-A-C-H
(I was corrected last year on this: H is the name for B natural, B is the name for Bb - I had always thought it was the other way around)
One of Bach's most impressive fugues is "The Wedge" in E minor. Check it out. One of my other favorites is the Little Fugue in G minor. _________________ Cybermonsters (Most Beloved Admin)
